Our Story

From Confused Newcomer
to Your Trusted Guide

Life in Thailand started the way most good things start in Thailand — unexpectedly, over a bowl of noodles. Our founder arrived in Bangkok with two suitcases, a rough plan, and absolutely no idea how to pay a utility bill, find a doctor who spoke English, or navigate the SkyTrain without going in circles for forty minutes.

That confusion turned into curiosity. The curiosity turned into notes. The notes turned into a blog. And the blog became the most visited practical guide to everyday life in Thailand for expats, long-term visitors, and anyone brave enough to call this extraordinary country home — even temporarily.

We cover the things the guidebooks skip: how to open a Thai bank account, what to do when your landlord disappears, the unwritten rules of temple etiquette, where to find the best som tam in Chiang Mai, and why you should always carry change for the market.

Thailand rewards the people who take the time to understand it. We're here to help you do exactly that — faster, smarter, and with a lot more fun along the way.

What Drives Us

Our Values, Built on
Thai Ground

Radical Honesty

We don't sugarcoat. Thailand is beautiful and complex. We tell you about the visa headaches, the rainy season floods, and the bureaucracy — alongside all the magic that makes it worth every challenge.

01 / Core Value

Community First

Our best content comes from real people living real lives in Thailand. We amplify community voices, local wisdom, and the kind of tips that only circulate at expat dinners.

02 / Core Value

Thai festivals — where culture comes alive

Spirit of Thailand

Always Updated

Thailand changes fast — visa rules, transport links, prices. We review our guides constantly so you're never working from outdated information.

03 / Core Value

Cultural Respect

Thailand's culture deserves more than a listicle. We approach every topic — from Buddhism to cuisine to social norms — with genuine care and local perspective.

04 / Core Value

Practical Over Pretty

We prioritize usefulness. A great photo of a temple won't help you when you need to know how to find a reliable motorbike taxi app at midnight. We do both.

Our Journey

How We Got Here

Every milestone we've hit has been driven by one thing: the questions you keep asking. Here's how Life in Thailand grew from a personal blog into Thailand's most trusted everyday living resource.

2017

The Blog Begins

What started as personal notes on moving to Bangkok becomes a public resource. First 12 guides go live covering housing, SIM cards, and opening a bank account.

2019

Expanding Beyond Bangkok

Coverage grows to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, and Isan. Our first deep-dive cultural series launches, exploring Thai holidays and social customs.

2021

Community Growth

Monthly readership crosses 20,000. Community contributors join the team, bringing expertise in Thai healthcare, education, and remote work.

Our Approach

How We Research & Write

On-the-Ground Research

Every guide is verified by someone who has done it personally — opened the bank account, taken the bus, eaten at the market, visited the office.

Regular Fact-Checks

Thailand's rules and prices shift frequently. We date every article and schedule regular reviews to ensure the information stays accurate and relevant.

Community Input

Reader feedback, questions, and corrections actively shape our content. When the community tells us something has changed, we update within 48 hours.

Local Perspective

We work with Thai contributors, local business owners, and long-term residents to ensure cultural accuracy and avoid the common foreigner blind spots.

Get In Touch

Have a Question or a Story to Share?

We want to hear from the community. Whether you've spotted an error, want to contribute, or simply want to say hello from your corner of Thailand — our inbox is always open.
